Physiological effects of calcium:

*Calcium (lime) is an essential mineral for humans throughout life. It is needed, among other things, as a building block for bones and teeth and for normal growth.
*Vitamin D enhances the absorption of calcium and is important for the well-being of bones and teeth.
*The need for calcium is greatest during the growth years and especially for women from the age of 35 onwards. Human bone mass grows and reaches its peak at age 35, after which it begins to decrease with aging.
*Bone mass is reduced by low calcium intake, smoking, lack of exercise, and certain other lifestyle-related factors. It is extremely important to ensure adequate bone development during growth and to maintain bone condition and strength later on. Calcium is obtained from food mainly through dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt.
*The average daily requirement for calcium is 800 mg, but it varies between different age groups and genders. For women, the need for calcium increases, for example, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as during and after menopause. It is important to ensure sufficient calcium intake also during weight loss or if the diet contains few or no dairy products.
*Calcium is absorbed very well from this preparation because it is in an organic form as calcium citrate. It also stays in the body longer.
