Physiological effects
Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is a nutritious wild berry. It is rich in potassium and vitamins C, K, and E, as well as carotenoids, which are precursors to vitamin A.
Bilberries are low in fat, but contain mostly beneficial linoleic and linolenic acids.
Fiber-rich bilberries, which are gentle on the stomach, have traditionally been used for intestinal problems.
Bilberries contain anthocyanins, which belong to the flavonoids.
Anthocyanins are particularly beneficial for the eyes.
The beneficial effect of anthocyanins on the eyes is largely based on their ability to stimulate peripheral circulation.
Visioblue Strong capsules contain bilberry extract with a standardized anthocyanin content. Particularly high anthocyanin content: one capsule contains 50 mg of anthocyanins.
Anthocyanins inhibit platelet aggregation, which is important to note for those using blood-thinning medication.
