Physiological effects
Vitamin B12 contributes to normal red blood cell formation, normal homocysteine metabolism, the normal functioning of the nervous and immune systems, and energy-yielding metabolism. It also helps reduce tiredness and fatigue and contributes to normal psychological functions.
The need for vitamin B12 is increased by factors such as physical exertion, stress, malabsorption, the use of contraceptive pills, an unbalanced diet, high alcohol consumption, and an irregular lifestyle.
Vitamin B6, or pyridoxine, has numerous functions in the body. It contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, the normal functioning of the immune system, and normal red blood cell formation. Additionally, it helps reduce tiredness and fatigue and contributes to normal protein, glycogen, and energy-yielding metabolism. Vitamin B6 is found in sources such as pork, poultry, fish, and whole grains.
Vitamin B1, or thiamine, plays a key role in carbohydrate metabolism and the functioning of the muscles and nervous system. Good sources of thiamine include pork, whole grains, and beans.
Vitamin B9, or folic acid (folate), participates in the metabolism of amino acids and nucleic acids. The need for folic acid is increased by factors such as an unbalanced diet, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and celiac disease. Good sources of folic acid are fresh vegetables, fruits and berries, beans, whole grains, and liver.
The pear-flavored tablet containing xylitol can be dissolved in the mouth or chewed.
Especially recommended for vegetarians.
